On the second of April, any individual possessing a National Lottery ticket has the opportunity to bring a companion to witness Telford United compete against Gloucester City in the National League North without charge!
This endeavor arrives at a critical juncture, as the Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted football organizations throughout the United Kingdom.
“As supporters, you are all undoubtedly cognizant of the ruinous consequences this pandemic has inflicted upon clubs such as ours,” conveyed a declaration from Telford United. “With interrupted match calendars and the absence of gate revenue, numerous clubs were left apprehensive for their very survival.”
Fortunately, National Lottery participants have risen to the occasion to furnish essential assistance to local football clubs, contributing a Ā£12.5 million (equivalent to $16.8 million!) financial aid package for clubs throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
A collective of 231 clubs across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are engaged in the National Lottery Football Weekends, with each club empowered to present their supporters with a ‘Purchase One Receive One Free’ ticket proposition for a single home league match during March or April.
“National Lottery participants assume a pivotal function in sustaining our national sport, particularly at the non-league and grassroots echelon,” stated Football Operations Manager Luke Shelley.
